5 Engaging Digital Activities for Teaching Comparing Fractions

February 20, 2026 No Comments

Fractions. Just the word can make some students (and teachers!) groan. But teaching comparing fractions doesn’t have to feel like pulling teeth. With the right visuals and interactive activities, your students can go from frustrated to confident in no time. Today, I’m sharing 5 engaging digital activities to make fractions click – and spoiler alert, my Comparing Fractions Tile Design Activity Bundle is front and center.

Why Engaging Fraction Activities Matter

Fractions are often introduced in 3rd grade and spiral into 4th, but many students struggle to visualize what those numbers really mean. Without concrete visuals and interactive practice, students end up guessing instead of reasoning.

5 Engaging Digital Activities for Comparing Fractions

1. Digital Activities

Assign self-checking activities to your students, such as my Comparing Fractions Tile Design Bundle, where students practice a variety of fraction comparisons.

2. Interactive Fraction Tiles

Using digital fraction tiles helps students see size relationships instead of memorizing rules.

3. Digital Number Line Practice

Placing fractions on a number line builds conceptual understanding. Add in Google Slides activities to make this interactive!

4. Real-World Scenarios

Have students compare fractions using recipes, sports stats, or even favorite pizza toppings.

5. Differentiation with Digital Bundles

Here’s the best part: you can use the 3rd grade version of my bundle as a review or scaffold for 4th graders, and the 4th grade version as enrichment for 3rd graders. Built-in differentiation = teacher win.
